Job Details

Location: Burnaby, BC V5J 3L7
Work Location: On site
Salary: $31.75 hourly / 35 to 40 hours per week
Terms of Employment: Permanent employment, Full time
Time of Work: Early Morning, Morning, Day, Evening
Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Requirements

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Language: Ability to communicate in English
Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
Onsite Work: Must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive straight trucks and tractor-trailers to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently
• Plan and adjust routes using GPS and navigation equipment to optimize fuel efficiency and delivery schedules
• Provide professional customer service during pickups and deliveries
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy when required
• Inspect vehicle condition, including tires, lights, brakes, refrigeration units, and other equipment
• Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle records
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor roadside repairs when necessary
• Calculate repair costs and identify replacement parts when required
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
• Complete transportation and safety documentation accurately
• Pay and receive payments for goods when required
• Ensure the safety and security of cargo, including tarping and load securement procedures
• Comply with all transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements

Credentials

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses:
• Air Brakes Endorsement
• Class 1 / 1F / A Licence (Semi-Trailer Trucks)
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate

Experience and Specialization

Documentation Knowledge:
• Accident or incident reports
• Bill of lading
• Dangerous goods occurrence reports
• Driver logbook
• Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
• Maintenance and repair reports

Type of Trucking and Equipment:
• Dry bulk transportation
• Straight truck (4,600 kg+ or 10,000 lbs+ with 3+ axles)
• Tractor-trailer

Transportation and Travel Experience:
• Local deliveries and transportation routes

Security and Safety

• Driver's licence validity verification
• Driving record check (driver abstract)
